Ink Memory

by Maya Chen · Brooklyn, NY

A collection of gestural ink studies translated onto premium cut-and-sew pieces. Each design captures a single moment of brushwork — the exhale before the stroke lands.

This collection started as a daily practice. Every morning for ninety days, Maya made one ink drawing — no sketching, no erasing, just breath and movement. The best of those ninety mornings became Ink Memory. "I wanted to capture something you can't fake," she says. "That split second where your hand knows more than your head." The pieces are printed using a dye-sublimation process that preserves every hair of the brush, every splash where ink meets wet paper. These aren't reproductions. They're translations.
