Null Space

by Søren Bach · Chelsea, NY

Architectural minimalism at the scale of the body. Compositions built on subtraction — what you take away is the whole point.

Søren spent six months developing the Null Space compositions. Each one started as a dense drawing — hundreds of overlapping lines, shapes, and forms. Then he began erasing. Not adjusting or editing, but removing. "Architecture taught me that negative space does the work," he says. "The wall doesn't hold the painting. The room holds the painting." By the end of the process, each piece had lost 80% of its original content. What's left is a composition that feels simultaneously empty and precise — like a floor plan for something that hasn't been built yet. Printed on matte-finish cotton using two-pass digital printing. The results are intentionally quiet. You have to earn them by looking.
